Clinical Research Manager – Medical Device – UK

The role

To drive clinical studies and research projects that support business goals, demonstrate market leadership and help achieve growth for the region

Key responsibilities

  • Create and execute research strategies
  • Drive Investigator Initiated Research studies
  • Coordinate clinical trials
  • Plan and write research protocols and documentation
  • Coordinate data collection
  • Develop relationships with key research Key Opinion Leader’s (KOL’s)
  • Work with marketing to develop research-based collateral to promote products and/or key differentiators in the market
  • Maintain a technology watch in order to identify external technologies of potential value to current and future products
  • Identify, initiate, and manage external collaborations for technology development
  • Assure the technical co-ordination within and between different entities and external technology research projects
  • Make presentations at national and international meetings
  • Assist in the development of value-added programmes which are differentiated to the competition and help customers to do their jobs better
  • Continually assess all aspects of healthcare development and national funding
  • Process ensuring that these are communicated to the rest of the management team
  • Determine areas of influence and take active steps to assist clinics to secure funding in a "branded reimbursement" method in order to expand the market


Qualifications and attributes


  • Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline
  • Experience in management of collaborative research studies
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dynamic and results-oriented
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English


  • Masters level degree
  • History of publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Management in medical device industry in the UK
  • In-depth understanding of the UK NHS health care system
  • Familiarity with clinical trial design and ethical approvals processes.
