Commercial Manager – generics manufacturer and wholesaler

The opportunity

A fabulous opportunity has arisen to join this long established generics manufacturer as a commercial manager. You will oversee the management of the commercial department and its employees and will be responsible for business growth in order to help the company achieve its profitability target. You will be able to build upon existing client relationships in addition to bringing on board and maintaining the relationships of new clients.

The company

As a parallel importer and pharmaceutical wholesaler, they are long established and distribute their generic medicines within the UK and are planning to expand their market to Africa and the Far East. They currently employ around 125 staff across their two Berkshire sites.

Main responsibilities

  • Drive turnover and achieve profit and revenue targets
  • Maintain and enhance commercial relationships with customer and suppliers while building relationships with new clients
  • Identify any commercial risks associated with the company and reduce their risks
  • Report and present to the board regarding business and market opportunities
  • Manage costs supply chain and procurement of the whole organisation
  • Identify new sales opportunities, new clients and projects to help grow the business


Skills and knowledge

  • Budget management
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Excellent communicator with clients and staff
  • Superb decision making skills
  • Strong understanding of contract law and commercial agreements
  • In depth understanding of financial and commercial matters
  • Good people management skills
  • Track record of working within the Pharmaceutical industry (preferably PI, manufacturing and generics)
